Here, I just had exactly the same problem: broken D string at the tuning peg, on extra light phosphor bronze strings. And yet, on the first chords, what a sound! And for me, a beginner, what a playing comfort! On a friend's advice, I temporarily swapped the D and low E tuning keys, while I bought a new set, but it's true that it's annoying: it's not cheap...

top!!! these strings have a magnificent sound. they also have the great advantage of not catching the grime deposited by the moisture of the fingers which makes them more sensitive but also more durable. i kept the previous ones for more than five months and when i replaced them i immediately cleaned the fretboard of my guitar and thanks to that i pleasantly noticed that there was no oxidation deposit on it. i strongly recommend these strings for barre chords because their coating allows perfect navigation from fret to fret without the slightest catch.
